REFUSE COLLECTION

Items for collection must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Mondays. Your recycling and compost should be separated at least 4 feet from your trash. Your refuse must be placed in 39 gallon or less containers. Waste wheelers are permitted if the garbage is all bagged. You may also set out trash in 39 gallon or less trash bags. The weight of the can or bag must not exceed 50 pounds.

RESTRICTED ITEMS

There are certain items that are not allowed to be placed in landfills. These items include, but are not limited to:
Gas cans, disposable LP gas tanks, automotive parts, tires and rims, cement, rocks and bricks, liquid paint, and pesticides. (To dispose of liquid LATEX paint, simply mix kitty litter with the leftover paint, allow it to harden, and leave at the curb with the lid off of the can.)

LARGE APPLIANCES and BULKY HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

Bulky large household items and appliances will be picked up on your regular day. It is helpful if the Village offices are notified ahead of time so they are able to notify Richfield. Large/bulky items include:

Carpet (rolled in 4 foot bundles and tied), furniture, mattresses, refrigerators, freezers, dryers, hot water tanks and air conditioners.

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Unless you are notified by the Village, there will be no collection on the following six holidays:

• NEW YEAR’S DAY
• MEMORIAL DAY
• JULY 4TH
• LABOR DAY
• THANKSGIVING DAY
• CHRISTMAS DAY

If your collection day falls on or after the holiday in a given week, your pick-up will be one day behind.

HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES AND MEDICAL NEEDLES

Batteries such as those used in toys, electronic devices, hearing aids, and similar items are to be dropped off at the Village Hall during regular business hours.

Medical needles such as those used by diabetics and others who regularly use such items on a regular basis are to be dropped off at the Village Hall during regular business hours.  Needles may also be placed in empty laundry detergent bottles, sealed and placed in with regular garbage.
